Why is it so hard for Dustin Poirier to find an opponent?
The former interim lightweight champion has been out of action since his title challenge loss against Charles Oliveira in December, but it’s not for lack of trying. Poirier has frequently called out his fighting peers on social media, including welterweights the likes of Colby Covington and Stephen Thompson.
Even though he holds back-to-back wins over Conor McGregor, Poirier is open to running it back with the former two-division champion when he’s ready to return to action. Ultimately, Poirier seems to be reaching the point where he doesn’t care who is standing across the cage from him, he just wants to scrap.
But is there an opponent that makes the most sense for Poirier? With names in the deck like Nate Diaz, Michael Chandler, and Beneil Dariush out there in addition to the others previously mentioned, who suits “The Diamond” best?
Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Mike Bohn, Nolan King and Brian “Goze” Garcia discuss Poirier’s options along with host “Gorgeous” George Garcia.
