Cortez on the fight’s key moment
“She up-kicked me, kind of threw me off balance a little bit. But I ended up on top.”
On her overall performance after nearly one year off
“I’m actually very happy with it, to be honest. Going in there I knew she was a judoka, but I didn’t know she was a black belt in jiu-sitsu. It kind of boosted my confidence a little bit knowing she couldn’t submit me. … Everything felt great. I went in there very confident. I just wish I performed a little bit better. I’m kind of hard on myself, and I wish I could’ve finished a few things, but it is what it is.”
Cortez on what she wants next
“Honestly I don’t know yet. I do know I want to get one more fight in before the year ends. That’s a big goal of mine, and if we’re able to get that done, you know, I’m in. As for the weight class, I’m not sure yet.”
