
LAS VEGAS – MMA Junkie is on scene and reporting live from Saturday’s UFC 256 event, and you can join us for live play-by-play and official results beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET (4:30 p.m. PT).
The event takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN2/ESPN+ and early prelims on ESPN+.
In the main event, flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (20-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) puts his title on the line against Brandon Moreno (18-5-1 MMA, 6-2-1 UFC). In the co-feature, Tony Ferguson (25-4 MMA, 15-2 UFC) takes on Charles Oliveira (29-8 MMA, 17-8 UFC) at lightweight.

Peter Barrett vs. Chase Hooper
Round 1 – Barrett in the center early, and Hooper moves on the outside. He throws a front kick and slides laterally. Hooper changes levels from range but gets pushed away with ease. Barrett kicks the legs a bit. He throws a few punches, as well, but looking to maintain enough range to avoid a takedown. Hooper with a side kick to the body. He’s striking as he fights with his back to the cage. Barrett lands a low kick to the cup as both were striking, and we take a quick break. Barrett out quickly with low kicks on the restart. He turned up the aggression a bit. Barrett the one moving forward, and Hooper trying to find spaces for counters as he retreats. Barrett catches a kick and delivers a big counter. Clear he’s not looking for the ground. Again they throw simultaneous kicks, and this time it’s Hooper that catches the cup. Barrett again the aggressor on the restart. Hooper finding some moments, but he’s taking some damage. Hooper changes levels and gets deep on a single. Barrett backs to the cage, and Hooper switches to the double. Hands are locked behind the legs, but he can’t get Barrett off-balance. Hooper pulls guard at the end and tries to attack the leg. Just not enough time. Round ends, and MMA Junkie gives it to Barrett, 10-9.
Round 2 – Barrett again happy on the feet and kicks the legs as he moves forward. As they get to the cage, Barrett backs to the center. Hooper catches him with a crisp left there. Barrett shakes it off and moves forward. Hooper’s body is reddened from Barrett’s work. Barrett landing at all levels. The leg kicks doing work, and Hooper starting to limp. Hooper again goes to the floor, but Barrett pulls free and backs away, and Hooper has to stand. Hooper’s leg is damaged, but he lands a crisp jab. Barrett still respecting what his opponent offers and is advancing cautiously. Imanari roll for Hooper, and he’s in on the leg. Barrett kneeling and scrambling. Hooper inverted underneath. He briefly controls the left leg, but Barrett patiently and alertly works free and back to his feet. Tense moments for Barrett there, but he passed the rest. Hooper’s right leg is reddened around the knee. Still, he’s moving and looking to strike. Barrett just getting the best of it. MMA Junkie gives it to Barrett, 10-9.
Round 3 – Hooper trying to make something happen. He kicks, and Barrett catches it. Hooper tries to drop to the floor, but he isn’t able to drag Barrett with him. Big left lands for Barrett. Hooper changes levels again, but he’s too far away, and Barrett pushes him off with ease. Hooper with another Imanari roll onto the right leg. Barrett defends from a kneeling position. He’s grasping the legs to prevent any advance. Hooper starts punching with his free arm, and Barrett ducks his head to make sure it lands on top with every strike. It’s a wild visual, but Hooper buying himself some time. He’s got the right leg secure, and he drops back to torque the ankle. Barrett is clearly in some pain here. Hooper has his weight on the leg and continues to torque, and Barrett has to tap. Incredible comeback.

Sam Hughes vs. Tecia Torres
Round 1 – They engage quickly, and Torres fires out a right hand. Hughes backs away to reset, and Torres keeps the pressure high. She’s got quick hands, and she’s changing levels early. Quick start from Torres, not letting the newcomer get comfortable. They clinch, and it’s Hughes pressing in from the outside. Torres battling against the cage, and she finally creates enough space to reset to the center. Torres quick again with her attacks while she’s in space. She’s aggressive and quick. Hughes’ face already showing some damage. Hughes misses a spinning backfist but lands a nice right hand. She’s got some power, but it’s the volume of Torres right now doing the damage. Torres mixing in kicks, as well. Torres in a real rhythm to start. Hughes catches a kick, but it’s Torres who turns and muscles her to the floor. She doesn’t follow. They reset, and Torres ducks in and lifts and slams Hughes to the floor at the bell. Clear round for Torres, 10-9.
Round 2 – Doctor comes in to take a look, and this fight is called off.

Billy Quarantillo vs. Gavin Tucker
Round 1 – Quarantillo with an early low kick. Tucker pressures back and scores with one of his own. Both men now wasting any time engaging. Right hand over the top for Tucker just misses. Quarantillo with a few big shots to the body. Tucker clinches, and he scores with a nice outside trip. Quarantillo immediately back to his feet, and Tucker backs away. Quarantillo pressing and lands a clean right. Tucker clinches again. Quarantillo’s corner doesn’t want any breaks in action. Tucker presses to the cage but lets go to reset, landing an elbow on the exit. Quickly back inside for Tucker, but again, nothing there. Back to the center. Few nice punches up top for Tucker. He keeps going back to the clinch, but there’s nothing there. Left hand lands for Tucker. He scores with a right, as well. Quarantillo pressing, but Tucker timing his counters very well. Counter left for Tucker. Body kick scores. Quarantillo trying to press, but Tucker sneaks in a high kick. Quarantillo changes levels, getting inside on a single, but he can’t covert. Tucker scores his own takedown in a final scramble. MMA Junkie gives the round to Tucker, 10-9.
Round 2 – Quarantillo out quickly again, and they trade shots on the feet. Quarantillo finding the mark, but Tucker digging in and answering back. Tucker clinches briefly, but Quarantillo pushes him away. It remains a quick pace and back-and-forth on the feet. Quarantillo landing, but it seems Tucker is there to answer every single time. They trade knees to the body. Tucker with a short elbow inside. Smiles from both as they continue to trade. Nonstop action from these two. Tucker finally grabs underhooks in a clinch and quickly slips to the back. Quarantillo trying to hit the switch, but it’s not there. Still, it creates a scramble, and he pulls away. Tucker forward and hits a click outside trip, taking the action to the floor. He’s in side control. Quarantillo scrambles to his knees, and Tucker gets to the back. Quarantillo able to roll and escape back to the feet. Quarantillo still pressing. Tucker foot sweep gets Quarantillo off-balance at the close. MMA Junkie gives it again to Tucker, 10-9.
Round 3 – Quarantillo again moving forward, but Tucker tags him with two crisp punches. Quarantillo walks through it and is still looking to attack. Tucker gets him off-balance in a clinch but can’t complete the takedown. Back to the center. Tucker with a little slip and rip, and Quarantillo staggers a little. He’s hurt. Tucker with a knee inside to the chin. Quarantillo fading from the damage. Tucker gets him to the floor again. Tucker rolling and trying to get to his feet. Tucker teasing the back. He can’t quite get there, and we go to the feet. Clash of heads earns a timeout from Jerin Valel. Quarantillo rips on the restart. Nonstop action here. Tucker just getting the best of it. He drives forward for another takedown. He gets it, but Quarantillo again moves back to the feet. Tucker stays with him and muscles him down again. Quarantillo firing upkicks as QTucker looks to advance. Tucker eventually settles to side control, but Quarantillo scrambles up. Absolutely no quit in his game. Less than a minute. Quarantillo’s corner wants him to break away and swing, but Tucker keeps it tight and scores one last takedown. High-paced until the end. MMA Junkie gives it again to Tucker, 10-9, and awards him the fight 30-27.

Rafael Fiziev vs. Renato Moicano
Round 1 – Moicano in the center, and Fiziev shifting back and forth on the outside. Quick low kick from Fiziev. Moicano with two straight punches. Thudding low kick from Fiziev. Quick punches exchanged. Fiziev to the leg again. Moicano answers with straight punches down the middle. High kick fro Moicano. Fiziev with a low kick and then a straight punch behind it. Moicano answers down the middle. Fiziev thinks it’s a poke, but we fight on. Great striking in display early. Quick and precise from both me. Moicano shoots from range, but Fiziev defends well, and we reset. Moicano lands a straight punch down the middle. Fiziev again chopping the legs. Fiziev loads up on a few punches, but Moicano evades well. Fiziev with a click combo, left to the body, right to the head. Moicano is hurt. Fiziev sees it. Another left lands clean to the chin, and Moicano hits the deck. Referee Chris Tognoni calls it immediately as Fiziev was falling on top to deliver more. Moicano staggers as he tries to get up. Vicious finish.
