In his move to welterweight, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis pulled off one of the biggest highlights of his career.
Pettis (22-8 MMA, 9-7 UFC) this past Saturday knocked out Stephen Thompson (14-4-1 MMA, 9-4-1 UFC) in the second round for a brutal ending to the UFC on ESPN+ 6 main event at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
And while the welterweight division is too crowded for Pettis to make a leap into the ranks after just one win – especially considering he may toggle back and forth between 170 and 155, his previous home – there was some movement for “Wonderboy” Thompson in the division.
Thompson had to fall a little in the USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie MMA welterweight rankings after UFC Nashville. But how far? Check out the new look of every weight class in the latest edition of our weekly rankings.
