Jake Hager’s mixed martial arts career continues apace.
The former Oklahoma University wrestling standout, who later went on to become WWE champion under the moniker “Jack Swagger,” will return to the cage at Bellator 231, where he’ll take on Anthony Garrett in a heavyweight main-card bout. MMA Junkie confirmed an initial ESPN report Wednesday with a person with knowledge of the fight.
Hagar (2-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA), while perhaps not facing the highest level of competition, has shown solid fundamentals in his first two fights, earning first-round finishes of JW Kiser and T.J. Jones.
The Missouri-based Garrett (4-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), who is making his Bellator debut, has won three out of his past four fights, all in the Shamrock FC promotion.
The Oct. 25 card at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. is headlined by a rematch between Frank Mir and Roy Nelson.
