We’re one step closer to Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier 2 – well, sort of.
Hours after Poirier (25-6 MMA, 18-6 UFC) took to social media to say he’s interested in running back the infamous 2014 meeting with McGregor (21-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC), “The Notorious” former UFC double champ said he considers it a possibility.
Well, sort of.
In typically boisterous fashion, McGregor took a page out of the Henry Cejudo playbook and said he expected Poirier to show a little more respect if he wanted the rematch.
Bend the knee to Conor McG, if you will (via Twitter).
I fed you to the canvas in 90 seconds bro.
You should have spoke my name with a bit more respect in that build up. “McGregor’s not next”
Motherfucker, it’s McGregor always!
McGregor is the goal! Always!
Say that now and I’ll think about it.

Perhaps more interesting than another McGregor online rant, Poirier also added some new options to the booking earlier today, suggesting the two could box if his former rival wasn’t interested in stepping into the cage for an MMA contest.
In MMA or Zuffa Boxing
McGregor and Poirier first tussled in a high-profile September 2014 affair at UFC 178. Both featherweights at the time, McGregor clearly rattled Poirier in the pre-fight buildup and went on to win via first-round TKO.
Zuffa Boxing is tentatively set for an October launch, but UFC president Dana White has repeatedly stated he’s not interested in UFC fighters crossing over. However, with McGregor’s extensive boxing experience, perhaps White’s mind could be changed in this particular case.
