ABU DHABI – Guram Kutateladze beat Mateusz Gamrot with a split decision Saturday to close out the preliminary card at UFC on ESPN+ 38 in Abu Dhabi.
Take a look inside the fight with Kutateladze, a teammate of Khamzat Chimaev who picked up a win in his UFC debut.
Kutateladze on the fight’s key moment
“When I’m in the cage, everything looks different. But when you look from the side, it looks different. So I have to look over the fight again together with my team and work on some small details and make some adjustments. Maybe I got too excited about my UFC debut and I took it too much on my nerves – too much excitement and everything.”

Kutateladze on winning his UFC debut
“It feels good. It was God’s will that I would get a win. It’s my head coach’s birthday and that’s the happiest thing, that I can give him such a birthday present. But otherwise, I’m not happy with tonight’s performance.”
Kutateladze on what he wants next
“I know that Islam Makhachev doesn’t have an opponent next weekend. I’m here and I’m ready to fight. Maybe I’m going to rest this evening, I’m going to rest tomorrow, and the day after that I’ll get to work again and start dropping weight again. I’m not stupid, but he wants probably top 15, top 10 guys and I’m like the new guy. But still, if something (happens), I’m here, and I’m ready.”
