Colby Covington wants to box 50 Cent: ‘If he got shot one time by me, he wouldn’t get back up’

Colby Covington has his eyes set on an unlikely opponent for his next combat sports bout.

In a day and age when the idea of Logan Paul, Antonio Brown and other celebrities participating in a boxing match garners massive attention, Covington (15-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) is looking to test his luck against Grammy award-winning rapper 50 Cent.

Covington’s beef stemmed from a post-UFC 245 Instagram post by 50 Cent. After Covington was defeated by Kamaru Usman in the main event, 50 Cent posted an image. The caption included the line, “Enjoy the broken jaw, you racist piece of (expletive).”

In an interview with ESPN on Monday, Covington said he didn’t break his jaw in the fifth-round TKO loss. However, the post from 50 Cent still hit a nerve.

“Nah, I didn’t break my jaw in the fight,” Covington said. “Does my jaw look broken? I’ve been smiling. I’ve been with all my mamacitas, you know? The only person that’s gotten their jaw wired shut is 50 Cent. If you want to talk about people who’ve gotten their jaw wired shut, let’s talk about 50 Cent. He says, ‘Oh, I got shot nine times.’ If he got shot one time by me, he wouldn’t get back up. 50 Cent is a little (expletive).”

“… He came out after the fight and was talking mad crap on me. He was saying all this stuff about me, talking all this smack. ‘Oh, that “MAGA” fighter Colby Covington.’ He was putting all these Instagram posts up.”

Covington laid out the ideal stipulation for a fight against 50 Cent. The UFC welterweight contender wants to fight the rapper in a charity boxing match and asserted he would do so one-handed.

“I want to do a celebrity boxing match,” Covington said. “I’m going to tie one hand behind my back and I’m going to fight 50 Cent. I’m going to put up $1 million of my dollars. I want to fight 50 Cent in a celebrity boxing match. I’ll donate all of my money to the troops because I love the troops so much. They protect our freedom. They put it all on the line for America. I want to fight 50 Cent.”

Which hand will Covington tie behind his back? 50 Cent can have his choice, Covington said.

“I’m going to tie my left hand behind my back – or my right one,” Covington said. “He can pick. It doesn’t really matter because both are lethal.”
